Apply for a Child Care Subsidy

The Child Care Subsidy Program helps low-income families pay for the cost of child care. Households must meet the income requirements, and adults must have an approved purpose of care requiring child care.

To apply, download and complete the Child Care Subsidy Application packet here and submit it to [email protected]. Questions can be sent to the [email protected] email or by phone at (702) 473-9400.

Required Documentation

These factors are reviewed before approving Subsidy benefits:

Identification

Citizenship of Child

Special Needs

NV Residency

Age of Child

Relationship

Purpose for Care

Homeless Status

SNN

Custody

Household Composition

Income and Assets

The case manager will send a Request for Information by mail or email if items are needed to approve household eligibility. The household has 10 calendar days to return the items to the program. If not received, the application will be denied, and the household must reapply.

Subsidy Approval and Renewal

If approved, a Certificate will be issued for up to 365 days from the application date. The Certificate tells the client and provider which child is eligible, the start and end date of approval, and the amount the program will pay for the child’s care.

Households must reapply at the end of each certificate period. The renewal Application can be submitted up to 30 days before the end date of the current certificate so there is no gap in coverage.

Waiting List

Households may be placed on a waiting list if funds are not available for immediate services. Waitlisted households are removed from the list based on application date (oldest first) and subsidy level (higher financial needs first). Families must keep their information updated so they can be notified when funds are available to serve them.

Subsidy Amount

The Subsidy program may cover up to 100% of the cost of care for approved families based on a sliding fee scale. The approved subsidy amount will be shown on the Certificate issued at the time of approval.

Child Care Options

The Subsidy program works with a variety of child care providers to maximize parental choice in care for their child. Depending on the child’s age, developmental needs, location and hours required, and the family’s preferences, the LVUL ECC Resource & Referral program can help parents find the right child care option for each child.
