What is subsidized child care?

Child care subsidy was developed to help income qualifying families offset the high cost of child care. In order to be eligible for subsidy services, every applicant and required household members must have a purpose of care. Purpose of care is an approved activity such as working or job search.

How do I apply for child care subsidy?

You can call one of our subsidy offices to have an application mailed to you or you can stop by one of our offices to pick up an application.

What forms do I need to take to my appointment

with my Case Worker?

Our Case Workers will provide you with a list of documentation you will need. In general, most applicants need: picture ID, children’s birth certificates, proof of residency, proof of all income, proof of activity schedule, proof of child support, etc. You may be asked to provide additional documentation based on your case. In order for us to update your information and to verify that you still qualify for subsidy, you must reapply at the end of your current certificate period.

When can I start taking my child to their provider?

Services may begin on the application date, as long as all required information is provided by the due dates that are set by your Case Worker and you have selected a licensed child care provider, recreational program (such as Safekey) or a FFN provider (Family, Friend or Neighbor) who is registered and active with our program. If approved for child care subsidy, you will receive a certificate which outlines: the start and end dates of service, the subsidy % and schedule approved, and which children are authorized for care by the selected provider.

How much will I qualify for?

The qualification criteria has two parts: household size and household income that is countable. If your income exceeds a certain level, your application will be denied. Your case manager may be able to provide you with alternative community resources to meet your needs.

How do I report change?

Any change that needs to be reported can be given to us and we will forward the change to your assigned caseworker.  A change that needs to be reported to us within 10 days includes the following:
Address, household size, marital status, newborn child, income change, change in rent amount, change in schedule, reschedule an appointment, etc.
